ABOSOLUTLY NOT! Call your lactation consultant for help on what meds you can and cannot take while breast feeding. If your doctor says not to take them, don't. Certain meds can be really harmful to your baby. And cause health and developemental problems later in life. Call your doctor back and see if they can perscribe you another medicine for you that will not be harmful to your baby. I commend you for breast feeding. I did too! Any questions on anything pertaining to medications and breast feeding please call your lactation consultant. You should be able to call the hospital where you gave birth and ask for Labor & Delivery, and whoever answers the phone, ask if there is a lactation consultant on duty, and if not, ask if there is anyone in the nursery that can help you. They were my lifesavers! Also, watch what you take over the counter. Call and ask before you do anything.

There are numerous Medications that should not be taken while nursing..A relative simple way to get an answer is to consult you Pharmacist....They are very well versed in what drugs contain and their actions....They will be able to advise you and also can call your doctor and further advise him....Good Luck to you and Congradulations on the little one...Please keep us posted.....

She must cleanse the nipple gently with an Antibactiirial Soap....If the nipple is cracking, she should contact her Physician to make sure that she does not have anything else, such as infection . He or she can then tell her what to use or call her in a prescription to help with this...She can use a breast pump until this is checked..Having said this, there are some who believe that the mother should continue to breast feed. I don't agree with this. I would advise her to speak to her physician about this , and use the pump...I hope this has helped a little..Good Luck and God Bless,,Keep us posted
