Broken toe

I had stubbed my pinky toe. Afterward, I felt pain when walking and touching it hurt. It is bruised on the inside and top of the toe and it has a blackish appearance on the back at the knuckle. This morning, I have some swelling. The bruise is still the same, but I have less pain. Applying pressure the top of the toe hurts. The toe's positioning looks the same. I know that there is no real treatment other than taping to neighboring toes. I want to go in to work today, but I haven't had a chance to walk a bit in shoes. There is a lot of walking in my job. What do you think about the toe, and what do you advise for treatment and work? Thanks so much!

Sounds like a broken toe to me. I broke mine a couple weeks ago and it STILL hurts like heck. I am a Nurse Assistant and have to be on my feet 10-12hrs and by a couple hrs into my shift, I'm limping and wincing up and down the halls right along with my patients, lol. I'm kind of at a stand still myself because I dunno if I should just work through the pain, knowing it's not good for my own healing, or get my dr to write a note for work restrictions.
