Can you take the sleep aid diphenhydramine while pregnant?

Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) does cross the placenta..This is something that I would ask your OB-GYN about...I would not recommend it's use as a sleep aid...Remember, anything that crosses the placenta, the baby also receives it...This can cause problems...Having said this, your physician can better treat your insomnia with a safer medication. Then again, he or she may give you the go ahead on the benadryl..I hope this was helpful...Please keep us posted..Good Luck and God Bless..
