A fasting blood test for cholesterol?With the fasting lipoprotein profile, you will be instructed to not eat or drink (except for water) for 14 hours before the test, and to abstain from alcohol for 48 hours. no i would not chew gum or any other thing before testing for cholesterol . because of the misinformation that the blood test results may give and this is to important to take a chance on this. and this test costs to much money to have this read any thing but the true value .

You may chew gum before a fasting blood test for cholesterol. Gum does not contain cholesterol. Gum contains sugar unless it is sugar free. Chew away!

No..You should not chew gum prior to a fasting blood test. Even for Cholesterol...Gum does contain sugar and other by-products..This can change the values such as Triglycerides...Avoid anything except water prior to fasting blood work...Good Luck to you and God Bless...
