Fractured shoulder ? In this case you need both hot and cold packs and to get the swelling down if any and use a cold pack with aspirin to releive the swelling and the hot pack to help the muscle pain and strains and also you might want to go to a doctor for help also if not already to get you into therapy for help with this very painful condtion . i know this is hurting bad but keep the ice pack close and at this time the body really needs a lot of fuilds to heal right so drink a lot of fuilds at this time.

You are going to need more than aspirin to handle the pain of a broken shoulder. Your orthopedic doctor can prescribe some stronger medications. The usual regimen of compresses is: cold only for two days, followed by alternating hot and cold packs.

If your the type of person who does not like doctors you could take active on. but i recommend going to a doctor orthopedic mostly they can give you strogner medications and maybe theraoy to relax the shoulder muscles as they may be knotted or torn, they couls also have been strained by some work that you did that you thought would not effect you but did.

Hello Sailplane374.....Without benefit of knowing the dynamics of your injury, I can only assume that you are receiving physical therapy...You can use either moist heat or ice depending on which gives you the most comfort...When you receive therapy, many times they will apply heat to loosen the muscles prior to the therapy and then apply ice once the therapy session has ended to reduce inflammation and calm the nerves down...If you pain is untolerable, this is something that you certainly need to discuss with your physician...I would suggest also that you take an NSAID such as advil or any ibuprofen product (unless you take meds that contraindicate there use), rather than aspirin....You will get more of an antiinflammatory action...I hope this was helpful..Please, keep us posted...Good Luck and God Bless.
