I had Scarlet fever as a child.

The symptoms are - abdominal pain, chills and fever, discomfort (don't feel good), muscle aches, sore throat, vomiting, swollen tongue, red lines - kind of general so you would probably need to see a Dr or nurse to be sure.

For one thing, you turn red. It's a lot like a very bad flu. My sister had it.

You may have a strawberry color tongue. Other symptoms are more flu-like such as fever, aches, vomitting, sore throat and abdominal pain. Scarklet fever is caused by a bacteria and hence, is treated by antibotics. Yong children below 10-years are more vulnerable.
Currently, there is an epidemic in Hong Kong with 2 reported deaths. It is reportedly a new strain which is more resistant to antibotics. Chinese are notorious for abusing antibotics for minor ailments. I fear the worse is yet to come.
