Vinegar work on getting rid of lice? Yes this helps get rid of lice and vinegar is an acid a very strong one at that it will kill the lice but not remove the eggs or nits you need to wash the hair in vinegar soak it good let it stay on the hair for a while before washing it out then reapply the same wash again and let stay on for about 30 minutes then comb the nits out of the hair mayonnaise also works this way , put a good amount of the hair and work this in and let it stay in for a hour then wash out and comb the nits out of the hair do this the next day also to get rid of all the lice in the hair clean all clothes bed linens and all areas where the lice can hide,.

Well, I have a sure fire way of getting rid of lice. However, it might not be safe for everyone. Take a regular spray bottle and pour in about 3 tsp of vinegar, 3 tsp of peroxide, about 4 tsp of dish detergent ( I use Palmolive) and a 1/2 tsp of bleach (make sure to not put more than this in there because bleach is not really safe, but it works. Every 2 days, spray the hair with this concoction and comd thru with a metal lice comb. This will remove most of the lice and eggs. There is no need to keep this in the hair like you do with the usual lice removers. Wash out with either Head and Shoulders or Selsun Blue. Use Coconut Conditioner after you take out the shampoo and concoction. Comb thru hair again with the metal lice/nit comb and you will see a BIG difference. You may see 1 or 2 bugs/nits but that is it. Buy a can of Mazola Extra Virgin Olive Oil Cooking Spray and spray on hair when combing. This will repel any lice. Repeat the washing process every 2 days until hair is completely lice free. IT WORKS! I have 3 girls with lots of hair ranging from 10 to 2 and I had to make this up on my own taking from random other ideas because I had spent about a good $400 on store bought stuff and even had something prescribed and could never get rid of the suckers.

Oh, we went through the lice business a few times and it was a nightmare!

We tried natural remedies---Vaseline, vinegar, etc.---and it was a mess. Then we did the drugstore chemicals, which worked somewhat.

The best thing we found was this little electric comb that zaps the bugs---the Robi comb. They sell it at drugstores and they also have a web site, www.robicomb.com. We still used the chemical shampoos with it, just to make sure.

And...you have to wash the bedding, pillows, hats, stuffed animals, etc. in HOT water.

And...we had it in the school, and the school finally figured out that there were floor pillows that had to be discarded.

So, I would just plunk the kid in front of the TV and comb his hair for 20 minutes.....
Good luck!

What worked for my kids waist length hair 30 years ago was the Vaseline: half the big jar thoroughly rubbed in scalp and totally drenched her hair, then put on shower cap, left til next afternoon, washed out with dish soap, took about 4 times to get it all goop out, rinsed with lemon juice. What a mess, but never had to use chemicals or vaseline again.
Before doing this, pillow went to trash, bedding to super hot water with bleach, blankets and teddy bears and dolls in sealed plastic bags for 37 days and plastic mattress covers for bed and box springs. The life cycle of nits and lice is 30 days, so I gave an extra 7 days for them to completely suffocate without a human host, then did the blankets in super hot water as well.
And because the lice will travel from one person to the next, I had to do the same thing to myself, even though I didn't have any visible lice or nits, because they lay the eggs under the scalp.
Started on Friday after school, made it a fun thing for a 6 year old and Mom weekend adventure, and no more lice. EVER. No matter how many kids at school had them, she never got them again.
PS: If everyone in the house isn't treated, lice will never go away. And both of us started getting really thick hair after about 8 months or so.
