H1N1 vaccine, and Hepatitis C

I am a 26 year old woman, with a 9 month old son, I have scheduled a appointment to have my son get the H1N1 vaccine, and I was wondering if I should consider it for myself because I have Hepatitis C. I am taking pegasys and copegus...should I get the vaccine?

A diagnosis of Hep C does not in itself cause you to be more at risk of getting H1N1 or of having higher risk of complications from the virus. There is no contraindication for you to get the vaccine, but since you are taking anti-virals, you may have a decreased immune response to the vaccine--causing you to not build up as much immunity as someone else.

So, simply put, you should consider getting the vaccine to give you as much immunity as possible.

It is probably a good idea to get the shot. For the sake of son. You don't want to get sick with swine flu and pass it on to him. The swine flu can hit hard in young ones. The issue is more that you have a young child then that you have Hep C.
