Employment Law

had an appendectomy on the 13th of February of this year, when i was discharge from the hospital the doctor told me that i cannot go back to work until the 24th of March, and then on the 7th of March i received a call from the HR of the company to whom i am currently working at and they told me that i have to return to work on the 12th, otherwise i;ll get terminated, and i tried to argue with them but they still very firm with their words. So i went to my doctor to get a release note and it is stated on the note that i cannot lift anything more than 20lbs., not until April 1. So i return to work not being fully recovered yet, for i cannot afford to lose my job, and then the manager complained to the District Manager that i was working slow, so we had a little discussion regarding that issue and that same day the District Manager sent me home and he told me to go back to my doctors office and ask for my official date of returning to work. In potential case that i might got injured from two days work since the 12th, will they have to be liable for it? What if i did not return to work on the 12 and i got terminated, is this somewhat legally questionable? I would highly appreciate a respond to this issue, thank you so much.
