Having been affected with this during the gulf war, I can tell you it is not fun, and it does have a name, it is called schistosomiasis (SHIS-toe-SO-my-uh-sis) it is caused by a parasite found in fresh water in Africa, South America, The Caribbean, The Middle East, Southern China, and Southeast Asia Here is the CDC's fact page for it. Ethiopia Skin Disease
My mom has been diagnosed with Ethiopia skin disease; however, I have been unable to find any articles online. If there are related topics, please share. She has gone to several doctors, dermatologists; however nothing has helped with the flaky(worse than drandruff), crackling, and dry skin. Any information you share would be greatly appreciated.

I did a quick search on Ethiopia Skin Disease as well and didn't find anything. Is it possible that Ethiopia Skin Disease is a slang name for the disease she has? There might be a more medical name that they call this buy that will yield more results.
The next time you talk to the doctor ask him/her what the medical name for this is and have them write it down so you can go back to the web and look it up.
