Blood blister on finger

I have a question regarding a blood blister on a finger. My daughter developed one a couple of weeks ago. But, she keeps popping it, because she says it relieves the pressure. Now, she works for a health agency, which she has had a nurse or two look at it, and tell her its nothing to worry about, but she says its very painful, especially when the build-up of blood is in there. Do you have some suggestions as to how to get rid of it?

Hello Luanda512.....Blood Blisters occur when the subdermal tissue and blood vessels are damaged without piericing the skin....These can be very painful...They are usually caused by a pinching of the skin or other trauma....One should never prick a blood blister...Leave the blood blister as it is and apply ice....To prevent puncturing the blister, try to cover it with a light dressing..If one does open a blood blister, they are at a much greater risk of infection...If left alone, it will go away on it's own...She may try soaking this in epsom salt...Otherwise, allow it to heal without piericing the skin...I hope this was abit helpful...Good Luck and God Bless.
