This is food poisoning for certain. It is possible she may even go on to develop a fever depending on what the food was contaminated with. Most cases of food poisoning are mild but if the vomiting continues she will become very dehydrated and may need put on a saline drip in hospital in order to replace lost fluids from vomiting, diarrhea and absense of fluid intake. The good news is most food poisoning cases resolve themselves within 24-48 hours when the causative organism is fully omitted from the body.
It is best she sticks to fluids such as water. If she cannot keep water down after two days then it is time to visit the doctor. Bed rest is also essential as she will be too weak to manage anything. If she develops slurred speech, collapses, vomits blood or her skin turns yellow you need to visit the emergency room immediately. The appearance of a rash or decreased urianry output also warrants an urgent visit to the hospital.
