I am guessing that you mean gall stones. They are typically a product of the formation of cholesterol stone precipitation in the gall bladder. Sometimes the stones can cause cholecystitis which is an inflammation of the gall bladder, sometimes they just cause pain, and sometimes there are no symptoms at all. Occasionally the stones can escape from the gall bladder and block the bile duct, and therefore the outlet of both the pancreas and the liver. This can be very serious. In this instance, and in the instance of cholecyctitis the gall bladder must by surgically removed, as must all the loose stones.
