Should I go to the hospital if my blood pressure is 218/106?

I have a self monitor at home and registered my blood pressure at 218/106. Can I wait until Monday or do I need to go to the emergency room? How high is the danger point?

You are there. Recheck your blood pressure now. And if it is the same get in NOW ! It can not wait until Monday, or Sunday or even 1 hour.

Hello Filmmaker666... Without benefit of knowing your medical history or any meds that you may be taking, I can only advise you to take your B/P again in both arms...I must also ask, if the blood pressure cuff fits your arm appropriately...? If an individual has large arms or very small arms and the proper cuff is not used, there will be an improper reading...However, if you are an individual who is currently being treated for hypertension and you are still getting high readings, I would strongly advise you to call your physician ..If you are unable to reach him, you should go to your local ER...I hope this was abit helpful...Good Luck to you and God Bless...Please, keep us posted...

Yes you have hypertension. You need to see and a doctor urgently. High blood pressure can be fatal if left untreated. You need some blood pressure lowering medication.
