The diagnosis depends on the type of pain. If the pain is a radiating pain that moves down the neck or up through the scalp, it may be muscular and stress related. If the pain is preceded by a difference in your vision or hearing, you may be having migraines. I wouldn't worry about a stroke or aneurysm as these headaches are described as the worst pain ever experienced, followed by neurologic deficits.
Have you had any trauma to your neck? Any injury that may have caused a shortening of the muscles of the neck? Are you under a lot of stress? What first comes to mind is a tension or stress headache. Try to relax and remove some stress from your life. If you can recall an injury that may be the culprit, physical therapy to restore the normal function of the involved tissues may be required. In the mean time, a mild pain reliever such as Ibuprofen should help to alleviate the pain, as well as some ice packs and massage.
