OK i would go any time the temp gets to 102 . and this will get higher toward night time , and he needs to get some help with this , but to keep the temp under control have him drink ice water with crushed ice and apply cool cloths to the forehead not cold and take tylenol for pain relief and this also helps keep the temp down. OTC TheraFlu is a brand of over-the-counter cold and flu medicines, and is very good also!
