It can take a very long time for bowel function to return after this type of serious surgery. If they gave you mylanta to ease stomach acid and you are on a low fiber diet and they are not giving you any stool softeners or stimulants, simply drink as much water as you can and ask to eat foods like spinach. The magnesium in the spinach can stimulate bowel function without increasing your fiber intake. Having some vitamin C food can also stimulate the bowel, so ask for some orange juice if you can tolerate it. I know you must be extremely uncomfortable and I hope this issue has resolved itself for you.
