How long should 'patch' area and incision sites hurt?

I had surgery on a hernia on the wall of my stomach and i am still having incredible burning type pain at the 'patch' site and where one of the many incision sites were. at the one incision that is so painful, there is a knot and my stomach is still so swollen on the side where the patch is.

how normal is this?
