Unexplained lower back pain ? This is a sign of a slipped disc and i have one also and it acts the same way not to bother me for a while and then it just hits and makes a very painful day or two or more and can cause a lot of pain down the legs and hips and this is something we have to learn to live with unless we want to have sergery on the back and i will not do this without a have to case because of the problem i would have to face after the fact . and if you want to get relief go to therapy at the local hospital after getting X rays to find the disc that's slipped and maybe more will be found after testing this condtion.

You really do need to ascertain what is the cause of back pain because there are various possibilities.Firstly if your pain is on one side of your back just above your waist and you also feel unwell you must consult a doctor immediately because that could be an infection of your kidneys. You may then need to be prescribed antibiotics and to have a special xray and possibly intravenous pyelography.
If your pain is a result of you lifting something heavy or unusually strenuous exercise, this is probably muscle straining. In that case take soluble asperin or paracetemol and lie on your back or comfortable position on a firm mattress for as long as pain persists, and applying a hot water bottle may also be helpful.

If you have a slipped disc the pain will shoot down one leg and may stop you moving so from your described symptoms that does not sound like what you have? But lumbago can also be due to a bit of your thin  membrane that surrounding the capsule of one of your joints being caught between the surfaces of a small intervertrebral joint or else a momentary incomplete dislocation of  your ligaments. This sometimes happens after a sudden  turning or bending or it may come on gradually. That too needs bed rest and may also need painkillers or muscle relaxation drugs, so really it is best to get yourself professionally checked out for any of these by a doctor who will prescribe the necessary drugs for whatever condition you have.
