Husband has seizers and drives car.

Question 1>My husband has seizers once a month and is taking medication for them however, my concern is that he have a seizer behind the wheel and kill someone else and himself. If that should happen would I be liable for his actions because we are married?

Question 2>We just recently tried to get him on disability so that he would not try to work but we were turned down. I have two children and am the only one that can work in the household. My income is only 2,600 per month net, my house note, due to bad credit is 1600 mth. I am strapped with expenses and need him to be on disability but the SS folks think I make too much money to qualify. Should I have a conference with them?

First question- You really need to get your husband to stop driving, you seem worried about, would you & him be liable for any death he caused. I think you would cuz you know he shouldn't be driving. My ? to you is, could you & your husband live with your selves knowing he killed a pregnant mother & her 2 little ones who were in the car with her, when you both know he shouldn't be driving.

2nd question- If your husband is unable to drive, that will help show SS he does deserve disability, along with dr recomendation. SS should not be based on your income, it is he who is going to get it.

Yes you husband should not drive because of his medical condition. I suggest you go back through the proccess, it should be based on his and not your requirements.

Also He should check out the seizure dog program. http://www.k94life.org/html/seizure_alert.htm . These dogs actually can detect about 30 mins or so before a seizure happens. He won't be living in fear of when it's going to happen. The site has the application and there is a 25 dollar application fee and of course the cost of keeping the dog in good health but I would think that it would all be worth it for him and would help his quality of life.
