Let me ask a question. Is the soreness on the top or outside of the little toe? On some peoples' little toes sometimes the bone gets damaged and humps up thus causing pain. This is called a hammer toe. A podiatrist can do surgery on this toe and remove part of the bone in the toe that is sticking up. This is not a very painful surgery. You must wear a special shoe for awhile until the swelling and pain goes out of the toe. I had this problem on both of my little toes. The pain and problem with the toes did not surface until I was about 45 years of age and had been standing or wearing high heel shoes a lot. Now I suspect this bone can become damaged between the toes as well as on top of the toe. If that happens, it would be very painful and could be corrected.
I suggest you find an excellent foot surgeon and let him diagnose the problem. It can be helped.
