In Georgia, when filing a claim to the insurance companies regarding medical expenses, injuries and treatments do you need to sign a medical release waiver of records or can you provide the insurance companies with copies yourslef?

I need to know as soon as possible, I was in an accident, not at fault, and I need to file for payment to the company Liberty Mutual, that is the company of the individual who hit me, I have Allstate. I am being told I must sign a release of medical records and that I cannot provide the records myself, is this legal? Please help.
