Is Concerta the right medication for multiple stroke patient with mental issues?

My husband has had 3 strokes in the last 17 months. Two in the right hemisphere and the last in the temporal lobe region. He is currently taking depression medicines (Abilify 5 mg and Remeron 30 mg). He has been prescribed Concerta 18 mg. I have concerns about giving him this medication due to the side effects. I have not started the Concerta yet. He has been experiencing olfactory phantom smells occasionally and he has a struggle with religious issues that include a battle in his mind with his salvation and Satan trying to tell him God has lost the battle for the Christians. Please understand he was a Reverend for many years prior to these strokes. He also has no libido and struggles with numbness of his left side that also affected his eyesight (approx. 25% of his left peripheral vision in both eyes is gone). I would like to know if it is safe to administer Concerta? He also takes Plavix, Diovan and Vytorin. Any help is much appreciated.
