No, do not drink castor oil! This is an old wives tale that almost caused a coworker to lose her baby. Instead try walking at a very slow pace. This worked for me when the doctor told me my baby would be overdue.

Drinking castor oil can induce labor, because it causes diarrhea which then causes your body to have contractions. This also leads to loss of electrolytes and causes dehydration for you and the baby, both which are very unsafe. There are methods that are somewhat safe, but nature is the safest. If your doctor wants to induce labor, let him/her make that decision. If I had followed the techniques that I learned while pregnant with my son, he would have died from fetal distress. So let nature take it's course.

It is never safe. There are too many risks. The baby will come when he/she is ready. I know you feel uncomfortable but you have to just relax as much as you can and be patient, for the health and safty of you and your baby.
I remember being SO uncomfortable and SO ready to have my kids at 38 weeks. Not to mention I was getting excited AND impatient. Just relax with some warm tea and kick your feet up and stretch out as much as often.
You will get through it and it will all be worth it.
Good luck and congratulations!
