Sounds like inflammation of the femoral nerve (like sciatica only a different low back condition). However, are you sure you don't have an inguinal hernia on your left?

The general treatment of low back pain is: maintain a normal weight, do stretching, have good abdominal musculature (this means exercises involving sit-ups), use of occasional ibuprofen or naprosyn, ice to low back. Be careful how you move and lift.

Yes, it could be a ureteral stone (a stone in the tube between the kidney and the bladder). That will often cause flank pain with radiation to the groin or testicle. Most often there will be blood in the urine. The best test for that is a stone protocol CT. It is important to follow up on that because if you have a stone lodged there for eight months, you will do damage to your kidney. Most stones less than 5mm will pass on their own in a week or two. Do you want to add more information?

You betcha. You may not have a stone, but if you do that would be very important to treat.
