I would say it probably depends on what your individual needs are. My step-son sees both...a psychatrist to manage his medications and a psychologist to talk through his problems with. Good luck!

Have you seen your general practitioner/family doctor first? He/she would be the best one to advise you on this and recommend someone. There are certain conditions that can only be treated with medication, in which case you might need to see a psychiatrist as a psychologist is not a medical doctor and therefore cannot prescribe medication for you. It is possible that your family doctor could work in conjunction with a psychologist and prescribe for you if necessary. Either way, I would check with your family doctor as a first step. Wishing you the best.
Well, I'm not exactly whats wrong just yet, it may be stress, anxiety, or even partial depression. I'm not sure... which is why I am to see a psychologist and maybe she could help me figure it out. Although, I may see both just for the heck of it.
And, I had asked for my physician to refer me to a psychologist, and she gave me a few names... although I hadn't told her what exactly was wrong... my bad.
