Mid back pain

I have severe mid back pain that has been going on for about 6 months. I have had 2 mri's with different findings. My doctor then did a mylegram. He says he does not want to do surgery because it is t11 herniated and he would have to go through the chest. He is not even sure that it would aleviate the mid back pain. Could it be something else and what are my treatment options?

Back pain once you have it is tough to get rid of. First, baby your back a little. Don't overdo the heavy lifting and carrying. Learn proper body mechanics so you don't reinjure the areay. But as someone who suffered from sciatica for years as a result of a herniated disc, and finally just wanted off the drugs, to my great amazement I found acupuncture worked. No one was more surprise than I was! No more drugs. No more pain! It took awhile (about a month of going, but it was covered by insurance) and chiropractic therapy hadn't worked, physical therapy hadn't worked, epidurals didn't work.... I was desperate to get off the Percocet and voila! Acupuncture did it! I had consulted a surgeon but when I asked him if I was his wife would her recommend surgery and he said he woldn't recommend it to her, I decided this was NOT the route I wanted to go. Best of luck!
