My daughter is 8 months and she hasn't been feeling well, why?

My daughter has been waking up during the night for almost a week now, she hasn't done that since she was like 2 months old. She crys for a while, sometimes i've gave her a bottle to help get her back to sleep. She had a fever a couple nights ago, not again since. She had a rash on her back yesterday and it is gone now. I thought she may have been teething, but my neice went to the doctor yesterday and they said she has Fifth Disease, so I thought mine did to, but I looked it up and she hasn't had red cheeks, so Im not sure. She's pretty happy during the day, it's close to bedtime when she acts like she doesn't feel good. Also like a month ago I found a pea size bump on the back of her head, on the right side at the bottom. That has been scareing me , what could that be? She has also had more loose stools, like one or two a day, and she doesn't have a diaper rash, but after she has a loose stool, she's red in patcy's, like her stools are acidy. I hope you might have an idea of whats going on. She's been eating level Two foods for a month or so, and drinks 2-4 oz of juice a day, and she eats 28oz's of formula a day, if that makes any difference. Thank you. Becky

It sounds like teething to me. My baby has been going through this and some just have a harder time than others. If she has a fever over 100, stops eating or drinking or acts lethargic you should definatly call the dr, but when she is teething her whole little system can get turned upside down. This past week my 10 month old hasn't wanted to eat a lot, has diarrhea, low grade fever and wakes up 4 times at night between 10 and 5. It's exhausting, but my many calls to the wonderful nurses at my pediatritian's office assures me that she's just working on her teeth which are almost in all of the way.

If you have concerns call your dr, but just be reassured there are mom's out there going through the same thing and that it is perfectly normal!

I agree with mahalo. Teething will do all of that. Feel inside her mouth for any bumps. You may find a tooth erupting. My baby has 11 teeth (16 months) and I have gone through all of this with him. Give Tylenol to help with pain and if you feel a bump in mouth put baby oragel on it. Do not use teething tablets or Humphreys! They are both dangerous to use while giving tylenol.
I don't know about the bump on the back of her head. Maybe just a cyst, but because of her age I would take her to doctor for a check-up. Better to be safe then sorry.

when in doubt as what the problem is it's important to get medical help. Bring her to a clinic or emergency room as soon as you can, don't wait and don't forget to have the bump checked. Good luck.
