Should I go to the E.R.

I had my son 9 weeks ago and recieved the depo injection before leaving the hospital. I have not stopped bleeding since having my son. In the last 2 days, I have been bleeding heavier, throwing up, and I have a great deal of pain inmy lower abdomin. My obgyn will not see me until tomorrow.
Should I got to the E.R?

I had a baby recently as well. I have never had depo, but if I were you I would go to urgentcare. Do you have health insurance? Most insurances are accepted and you can call ahead just to be safe. Since they do not see life and death situations (i.e. shooting victims, fatal injuries) you won't have to wait nearly as long.

Your body is still so sensitive after having a baby and it is always better to be safe than sorry. If you even think you might need to go you should go.

You might just go the OB's office anyway, a nurse there might be able to see you. Otherwise yes, if it were me, I'd go to the ER.

If you don't know where an urgentcare is, here is a national urgent care search:

You should call your doctors office. Someone should be there to take your call and consult you on this specifically. (Such as a nurse or on call doctor) As you are a patient they can give you better advice as to what is going on and what you should do.

Yes yes yes yes! I know it doesn't seem pleasant , and you don't want to leave your baby, but if something is really wrong and you wait too long - you will be forced to spend time away from him. A parent's health is just as important as the child's - no parent = orphan. And yes, this is an extreme analogy but you get the point. Now turn off the computer and take care of yourself.

If you have been bleeding this long, going to the ER might not be worth the extra cost as opposed to going to the OBGYN tomorrow. I hope you feel better soon. :)

Thank you all for your help. I do have insurance but was not wanting to spend $100.00 @ the E.R. I ended up waiting for the O.B. appt. My doctor ended up giving me a light dose painkiller (So I could continue to breast feed) and a birth control pill that is supposed to help stop the bleeding. Doc said it was just my first true "cycle" after the baby, but that if the bleeding doesn't lighten up in the next few days to go to the hospital.
