Acne or bumps on the buttocks is a common condition that is caused by various factors and can be treated without oral or topical medication. You can try using an antibacterial shower gel or soap. Lather up the affected area, or the entire buttocks, and leave it on for at least 1-2 minutes before rinsing. Also, you should take showers instead of baths as sitting in water filled with bacteria isn't going to help your condition. Also, make sure you dry your skin thoroughly after showering and wear boxer shorts instead of briefs. Also, wear loose, cool clothing to facilitate airflow and reduce heat build up and perspiration in the area.

Try dry skin brushing with a natural bristle brush. (Amazon has a few which are reasonably priced). Brush daily, and always in an upward direction, toward the heart.

I have had this problem myself so I know how annoying it is. I tried alot of "treatments" as well and its hard to find the one that works for you. Body acne is caused mainly from sweat and dirt in your pores...same as your face....it probably gets worse in the hotter months especially if you wear tight clothes. Try not to wear underwear that contains satin or spandex try using 100% cotton that is not to tight. ALso I used this treatment called Bacne from Mark cosmetics..it worked for me!

If you have persistent acne on the buttocks then you should try and use a ex-foliating wash on that region so that it can unclog any pores that may be causing the acne. You should also have showers daily and use a antibacterial wash to kill and germs that are located in that region. Do not pick the spots as this will make the acne worse and make it come back several times more in the future. I would definitely recommend that you change your underwear everyday.

Another reason this could be happening is when you visit the toilet to excrete waste there may be a splash back that lands on your buttocks that is causing the area to become infected. You should always clean the area thoroughly using antibacterial wipes. If all these measures fail then a visit to the doctor maybe required so they can diagnose further and provide you with antibiotics.

Your diet may also be playing a part and you should definitely try and avoid excessive sugary and fatty foods as this usually increases your androgen level which in turn increases the P.Acnes bacteria which cause the spots to occur in the first place. Instead try and drink as many vegetable smoothies and always have extra portions of vegetables. Another supplement you could try is psyllium husk which will help clear all the toxins in the digestive tract. Psyllium husk is a soluble fibre and acts as a sponge to scrape off all the infections and gunk in the body.

There several ways to approach acne on the buttocks. As others have suggested, vigilant hygiene and trying to keep the pressure off should be your immediate solution. However, since this part of the body is less accessible and more prone to bodily strain than others, you really need a good antidote you can take orally.

The Indian spice turmeric is a proven way to knock out most types of acne. Even folks with persistent problems like the large boils caused by recurrent staph infections have been able to manage their ailment with this root. It attacks infections on all fronts by hitting bacteria with antiseptic properties and reducing inflammation. Turmeric is a powerful blood cleaner as well, which is an important benefit for reducing the spread of acne to new skin pockets.

The spice should be available in the bulk food section of most grocers, or as capsules near the vitamins and herbs. Taking turmeric capsules or drinking the powder after it's been dissolved in warm water is the best way to ingest it. If desired, you can also apply a turmeric paste directly to the affected region. It will dry out the skin and kill bacteria over time, and it usually brings pimples to a head so they can drain.

Lastly, here are a couple useful tips for taking turmeric both ways. Many people dislike the taste, so you should only consume it in a capsule form if the bitterness bothers you. Also, never wear clothing directly over an area covered in turmeric paste, or you'll stain the fabric yellow.

Sounds like folliculitus, you need to see a dermatologist as only they can help. You may require anti-fungal medication.
