Sore lips

My sister is having an issue with her lips buring, swollen just plain sore but not really chapped. Her dentist and her have been trying several things to rule out the possible problem now for 4 weeks. Her dentist has also prescribed her medication which doesn't seem to work. Now she is seeing a yeast build up in the month. We're not sure if it's from the medication or not but her lips haven't improved. She has changed anything different such as mouth wash, toothpaste, lip stick, soaps, etc. but she still can't understand why her lips are swollen and having a buring feeling to them. Has anyone ran across such an issue? Any solutions? Thanks for any and all advise.

A caring sister- Cat

Sound like she has thrush (yeast in the mouth), which can cause soreness in the area (at least in children, my daughter had it ). It should go away if the underlying cause, some sort of immune deficiency, is cured. They have antifungal medications for it.

Thrush, Also called candidosis and moniliasis, candidiasis is usually a mild, superficial fungal infection caused by the Candida genus. The infection usually affects the nails (onychomycosis), skin (diaper rash), or mucous membranes, especially the oropharynx (thrush), vagina (candidiasis), esophagus, and GI tract.

When you get this in your mouth, and you lick your lips, you will get the same swelling and burning sensation that you get on the labia when you have a vaginal yeast infection.
