Could be as simple as heartburn. Try taking some heartburn meds, or maybe just a few tums and see if that helps.

If the pain or tenderness is under the rib cage on the right side it could be gall bladder. Other symptoms of gall bladder disease include:
Pain between shoulder blades
Indigestion after eating, especially fatty or greasy foods
Nausea
Dizziness
Bloating
Gas
Burping or belching
Feeling of fullness or food not digesting
Diarrhea
Headache over eyes, especially right
Bitter fluid comes up after eating

It is impossible to provide any suggestions regarding possible causes for your pain without a detailed history that focuses on the nature of your pain, factors that make the pain better/worse etc. Tell me more darlin.

Does it hurt all the time or just when you eat? I had an ulcer a couple of months ago and every time I ate I would get a horrible pain in between/underneath my ribs. If it is just hurting whenever you eat try not eating- chocolate, cookies, anything spicy, drinking any caffeinated beverages, no fried foods, potato chips, broccoli, cauliflower and don't eat as much as you usually would. If it doesn't help or get better in 3 days to a week go to the doctor.

You should probably see a doctor. If it is your gall bladder and you let it continue the surgery will require an incision about 8 inches long just to the right of your rib cage. If you get it out before it becomes to serious they can perform laparoscopic surgery which is several small incisions and much shorter recovery time.

Is there any update to what the cause was? I hope you are feeling better.
