Tattoo rash

My husband got a tattoo on friday, and has now developed a large rash all around the edges and now its starting to spread to his stomach. What do you think would cause this and how do we treat it?

Sounds like he is possibly having an allergic reaction to the ink used for the tattoo. Usually not indicated by anything anyone did wrong, just his body reacting to the type of ink used. Should seek medical attention. A skin infection can get worse, spread and enter the blood stream. Treated with antiobiotics.
