LFT means=LIVER FUNCTION TEST; high liver enzymes could mean possible hepatitis, or NASH. They are checking to see if you have any liver damage. If the test shows fatty liver then they will likely do more blood testing for hepatitis, especially if you were a past drug user- Hep C very common in drug users.

Liver Function Testing is done usually when a patient presents with symptoms that are consistent with either abnormal findings in their exam such as when one palpates the Liver area or there is jaundice present or if other lab studies are elevated in relation to the liver...Your physician will know the best course of action to take with these studies....If you are a drinker, STOP...If you still use drugs,STOP. Let your physician help you...This can only be accomplished if you help yourself....Do Not jump to conclusions....You will only serve to upset yourself....Stick with the advice of your physician and you will do fine...Keep us posted......

Mt LFT was in the 500 when i was told it was suppose to be about 50, i am 41 and just had a severe pancreas attack and was hospitalized for a week, they have done a MRI and MRCP. they also have found dilated ducts and no stones, i have had my gall bladder removed over 12 months ago.
what could all this be leading to?
they are going to perform a endoscopic ultrasound to eliminate tumas and stones, and suggesting sphincter of oddi, do you agree?

Hello cos123...I would suggest that they perform any necessary test to find the root cause of these findings...Something is amiss....I am sure that they have checked your Trygleceride levels...In some cases, if one has an elevated Tryglyceride level , this can lead to inflammation of the liver...However, I am sure this has already been ruled out...They are doing the least invasive test that they can do to find the cause...This will give them a much better vantage point to visualize what may be going on..I think that this is going in the right direction for now to find out what is going on,..I hope this was helpful..Good Luck and God Bless..Please, keep us posted...
