My Dad taught me a focusing technique he picked up in China. It's a mind over matter type of thing that lets you externalize the pain. It works well for nagging pains as well as those sudden, bothersome pains like broken limbs.

I think it is a Buddhist technique. Look up self-hypnosis, bio-feedback, meditation.

There is this guy in China who can control his body so much that he can stick a spike through his had and not only will he not feel the pain, but he can control his blood pressure so he doesn't bleed. Western cultures are obsessed with pain meds.

That's a hard one. Sometimes my mousin' hand gets sore after working all day but after I take a tylenol its usually ok. You should look up that pressure point stuff. If you have a headache and you press that meaty part between your thumb and pointer finger it'll go away - really try it out!

Bio-feedback, message and physical therepy should all help to some extent depending on the severity of you injury. Seek out a compatant Physiatrist (read that carefully, not a head shrinker) a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. They are also considered pain managment specialists. They can, along with your PCP help you decide the best course of action, be it natural or conventional.
