OK this is called a sty and they are from a bacteria in the eye lid. and to help this place warm cloths over this a few times a day and it will come to a head and then go down or you can burst this with the fingers. and it will be OK. this happens a lot to a lot of people and is very common . and after the bursting. place a little antibiotic cream over the sore!

While this may be a sty, i'd highy advise against doing anything invasive such as popping it with your own fingers (which no matter how 'clean' and well manicured, harbour lots of bacteria in the crevices and beneath nails, whether they appear dirty or not).

a warm compress is the way to go as a 'home remedy', as well maybe a used, warm (but not hot!) teabag.

don't put any antibiotic ointment on the eye unless it's explicitly for optical use. many people are actually allergic to bacitracin (what's in neosporin) or other topical antibiotics, so if you were to apply the cream in as sensitive an area as the eye and then have a reaction, you may cause temporary or permanent damage to your vision (either way it's a pretty scary risk if you don't know what you're doing).

just go to your primary care specialist (aka family doctor) or nurse practitioner and they should be able to put you in the right/safe direction (if cost is an issue, find a free or low-cost clinic in your area). the benefits of having a professional assess your problem, no matter how small it may seem, greatly outweigh whatever money may be saved by going to the doctor, especially if it turns out to be something far more serious than you'd originally thought.

and, as anything else, since you're obviously prone to the problem, ask your health practitioner what preventative measures can be taken so this doesn't become a reoccuring problem (even something as simple as tossing out your old-ish mascara, gently exfoliating your face with a buffpuff to loosen dead skin cells and scrub away bacteria -tho obviously not on the eye, hehe-, etc might help).

good luck!

I Have a bump on my actual eye ball. on the white part. It was a small red bump.. and now it has caused my eye to look like it is bloodshot...? Any ideas about what it is and if its serious? My vision in that eye is worse than the vision on my other eye?

Hello Princling163...Without benefit of being able to visualize this area, I can only advise you to have this checked out by your physician...This could be a stye, or it could be any array of disorders of the eyelid...Often times the oil glands of the lid becomes blocked and will cause such a disorder. Apply warm compresses to the eyelid for 15min four times a day...If this does not resolve this problem within a few days, you certainly should have this evaluated by a physician...Please, keep us posted..Good Luck and God Bless. Here is a web site that you can visit..Simply use the search engine there and type in eye disorders.<www.aama.org>

It is probably a sty in your eye and I would try to clean your eyes out with some contact lens solution and keep your fingers out of your eyes.

There are oil glands in your eyelids and they can create pimples just like your other oil glands. This happens when the oil gland becomes clogged. Just like any other pimple, you can create a scar by popping it. You can either treat this with medication or by applying a warm cloth over your eye to help the oil gland drain. You need to use the warm cloth though for at least 5 minutes at a time four times in a day. That should help the oil gland completely drain.

Hello v_210..Without benefit of an ocular exam or external exam of the eyes, it is impossible for one to definatively diagnose this...This could be an array of disorders...Papilloma , Pingueula, just to name a couple.....These usually appear on the Limbal area of the eye...Do not attempt to rid yourself of this...This needs to be evaluated and proper treatment be initiated to prevent damage to your eyesight....Please, get this thing looked at...Please keep us posted..Again, Good Luck and God Bless
