Zoloft vs. paxil

I have been taking zoloft for about 4 months now for anxiety. I was having anxiety attacks at least 3 times a week. Since zoloft, i have hardly had any! It seemed like a miracle drug, but then i started getting nauseas every day and losing a ton of weight. My doctor switched me to Paxil. I started it today. I have read very horrible things about it though... I am scared i'll have to take it the rest of my life. Which one is better, and EASIER to get off of? Any Ideas? I could switch back to zoloft if I need to.

O i can help you , and i take paxil and have for a few years and i have panic attacks , and i was taking other things before paxial and this is the best of the best , i built up to 40 M/G over about 6 weeks and have been on this M/G for the past 5 years and this has never bothered me at all except to build up, and what this does is if when you are building up it makes you think you get a little shock in the head every once in a while , but then its just not the right dose yet and when you get up to what you should be on then its like a new you, and you dont have any other problems . and you dont get sick on this or i haven't not one time, and some of my friends take this and just love it. so ill stick with this and you should give it a real good chance also , and if you need any help with this let me know and ill try to help all i can , ! oh yes and you can come off this without any trouble also and this is the best again !

Both of these drugs are Anti-Depressants...Zoloft can be increased to a much larger dose per day than Paxil....Paxil has a 60mg /day limit where as Zoloft can be increased to a substantially higher dose...The side effects of both these drugs are closely related with Nausea being one that is most t common side-effect that patients complain of .....Each patient response is different...You should certainly discuss this with your physician...Your concern and worry over this medication is only going to add to your anxiety....I hope this was helpful to you...Please keep us posted....

The thing with antidepressants is that everyone is different. I have been on four different ones over the years and it took alot of trial and error untill I found the right one. I have talked to alot of people about them and everyone has something good and bad to say about each one.
It can be really frustrating at times but be patient with yourself and just be honest with your doctor and keep trying untill you find one that works for you. Don't let fear keep you from helping yourself... see, that's where anxiety comes form to begin with. It might help not to even read the negative because that is what you will concentrate on and you may have a bad reaction just because you believe that you will.
As for coming off of them, it sucks. No matter which one you are on, it is hard. If you can taper and come off gradually though you will do just fine.

Paxil isn't good for everyone and if you start having any weird symptoms consult your doctor immediately. Ask you doctor about other antidepressants that may help you, like welbutrin

Thank you all! I decided it was best to switch back to Zoloft, as I ended up having a panic attack from the paxil... I called my doctor and he advised me to switch back. I will take nausea over anxiety ANY day! Thank you again!
