Are there any laws governing the rights of salaried employees?

I just found out that my boss is going to deduct hours from the salaried employees because of a plant shut down. We were told that we would have to take vacation time or lose pay. Is this legal, considering we work a lot of overtime with no compensation.

If you arn't in a union , they can do what they want they are the boss. as long as it's not harassment or discriminatory reason. if you have a union I would ask them. check your work contract. read the fine print get a magnifing glass if you have to find the loopholes. the people I work for are doing that to us too. find out first but I would use them or loose them. if that is the only case. if you cant work at least get paid for not working. times are hard. bills have to be paid.
