Please explain the rule elective holidays with respect to personal days.

We were told we can use Good Friday as a Union elective holiday. However, management advised us that Good Friday was going to be charged as a personal day. Therefore, if we used it as a holiday, we would be losing one of our personal days.

Please explain this rule.

The keywords here are "an elective holiday". This essentially means that you are choosing to take that day off, without an absent penalty, but in order to get paid for it then you will have to sacrifice a personal day to obtain the pay. I know this is really late, but I hope it helps. Susu
