What are the laws reguarding holidays?

My husband was tlod he has to work on July 4, 2008 and will not receive a day off later for it nor will he receive any holiday pay for it. What does the federal laws or Georgia state law say? Can the company legally do that?

Does his company consider the 4th a holiday? not all companies do, and maybe his is one of them.

i would have him talk to his HR person, or consult the company handbook.

As Fakery stated it depends on the company's policy. There are no state or federal laws that can force private businesses to acknowledge any holiday. Most companies pay holiday pay as a perk, just like sick days, not all companies provide them. He should have been told this prior to accepting the job. Susu
