Claiming my daughter and her newborn child

My daughter lives with me and my wife she is a single mom and does not work the baby was born july - 07 she does recieve food stamps and some cash assistance but i was wondering seeing i pay all the utilities and the rent can i claim her and the baby some how and i but most of the food not all ..she is 27

You should defiantly claim the daughter and the grand baby. This tax break is giving to compensate for expenses to the guardian and financial provider.

Being able to claim someone on your taxes doesn't imply legal custody or guardianship. All it means is that you provide 50% of the cost of care for the two. Even though she has food, you pay water, utilities, I'm sure you buy toys, supplies, gas for the car, etc.

Since she is 27, you may only be able to claim the grand baby (sorry I didn't notice that before). To claim your daughter she would have to be under 19 or 24 if she was a full-time student. Good luck and enjoy that grand baby!
