You should certainly qualify for assistance. It is people like you who truely need and deserve it that try hardest to avoid it. I don't how our government expects people to live on SSI, it is impossible. You will never get back what you payed in, get the assistance, you need and deserve it, kudos to raising the grandkids!!
There is government help available for you. You may qualify for food stamps, medical and dental benefits for the kids. If you have custody of your grandchildren, contact the Social Security office in your area about ssi benefits for the minor children. They are blessed to have you in their lives.
