I think you are absolutly right. when it comes to child support it should be spent anywhere that is in benifit for the child/children. spending the child support for your own benifit and yours alone is absolutly wrong. if you use your money for what ever else they need then its all okay to spent it on the rent absolutly.

How Child Support should be spent?
Can Child Support Be Used To Pay The Rent Where The Child Is Living?? My Husband Says NO...
I Say Yes..Because it is Helping to keep the child with a roof over it's head...while the rest of my money goes to food bills, the childs clothing, and everything else the child needs or wants...I happen to use it on the rent because it comes at the beginning of the month and i only get it monthly..
I live in Connecticut, incase there are different laws in different states.

I thought i was right!! But i did email some attorneys in my area to ask them also...Seeing that i get the child support in the beginning of the month, it's just easier to pay the rent, and then i have my work checks to get her whatever she wants or needs..but i always thought that food and a roof over your head was the most important thing to supply for a child..

I think that child support should be used for just what is is, child support. not girlfriend support or ex-wife support. do use that excuse about keeping a roof over a childs head. because when it really comes down to it, if the father loses his job tomorrow, and your checks stop coming, that rent will still get paid, some kind of way you will still pay get it paid.
so i think that child suppot should be spent on the child, (clothes, shoes and a bank account), i never did understand why a woman would think that a child should help you pay your bills.
