What I have always found interesting about lying, is not so much the act itself, but that human nature requires us (well most of us - pathalogical liars not included) to justify to ourselves why the lie is ok. Going back to old fruedian theory that still stand today. People want to believe they are good and they will justify lying with tons of excuses:
It'll hurt their feelings if they know the truth...
They don't deserve to know the truth...
It's not a lie if I just exculde some information...
I need to tell this to protect myself, which is my right after all...
I always think the justifications are interesting - and hey we are all guilty because no one is perfect!
