How to remove an unwanted family member from my house.

My mother came to our house so we could find her a place to live. She now refuses to leave, even though we found her a nice apartment. She has been mean and abusive to my wife and children to the point that they have moved out to an apartment. She is somewhat confused but not demented. Do I have a legal recourse to have her leave?

Check with any office supply company for a formal eviction form. Fill out this form and make a copy for your records. In Texas you can give a three day for non payment of rent and a thirty day for disturbing or damaging your property. Check with a JP or someone in the courthouse on the time frame. You can either mail or tape it to their door. Good Luck!

An easier way to take care of this is to have her tresspassed off of your property. You would call the local law enforcement agency and tell them that you have a person that was residing in your home that you have asked to leave and they refuse. Tell the police that you want to have them tresspassed off of your property. (Make sure you say that you want to have them tresspassed). Then if they come back you can call the police and they will take them to jail.
