Looking for financial aid for fostering handicapped adult
My mother whom is currently looking after my brother who is 24 yrs old is turning ill. He currently recieves SSI along with my mother.
My brother has a learning disability and is considered mentally handicapped and cannot live on his own. Since he requires 24 hour attention my mother cannot care for him and we don't want to put him in a home. His monthly income approx. $600. would not be enough to properly support him on my own. I was told that there are programs that give financial assistance to families that house and care for handicapped individuals. I don't know where to start looking and/or whom to contact to begin this sort of process.
