We have parkay flooring in our home & are replacing it with hardwood. Although the parkay is old and faded, it appears to be intact.

The contractor says he can just place the hardwood overtop of the parkay using 2 1/2 inch nails to hold it securly in place. The only problem would be the obvious that the floor will be 3/4 inch higher. In your professional opinion, do you think this will be ok or should we remove the parkay? Thank you.
