It may not increase the value of your home say as if you were to remodle a bath or kitchen, however, if its in bad shape and you are say trying to sell your home, it will help if you were to re-do it first. It shows pride of ownership and care and maintenance is very important.

A deck that is in NEED OF REPAIR, does DEVALUE your property... I agree about fixing it up, at least will pay big benifits. Maybe not REPLACEMENT, but putting it into usable condition will not scream WORK TO BE DONE... to a possible buyer.
