Lamp socket

I have an old brass lamp that needs the cord replaced. I cannot get the socket apart? Any suggestioins of how to do that?

Normally the round part separates from the base , make sure there isnt a knot in the cord

at the base holding the socket in place , with round part off , unscrew wires , get a new

socket at the hardware store and reinstall the same way
