Unfortunately there is no real converter that can change your standard definition tv into a high definition tv. The reason is because your standard def tv doesn't have the quality resolution of a high def tv. So your picture quality will only be as good as a standard def television.

Now there are converters out there that will boost your picture quality to the maxium for your tv set which will get you kind of close to the HD quality. You also have to check your tv and make sure that it has the correct outputs that will work with the converter.

If that is too much of a hassle for you. You may just want to wait until you are ready to buy a new tv. Since the tv is already 4 years old. Maybe in a few years you will be ready for a new set.
